Sales management software and CRM in Algeria: which one does your sales team need?

By INVENTCORPUpdated 3 min read

"We need sales software" can mean three very different things. For an Algerian distributor with forty pre-sellers on the road, an industrial SME selling to a few key accounts, or a subsidiary managing export prospects, the right answer differs. Before comparing products, find out where your sales actually happen.

Disclosure: INVENTCORP builds custom sales systems for B2B companies and distributors. We also explain when other options fit better.

Three families of tools, three needs

Tool What it manages Who it suits
Sales management software Quotes, orders, delivery notes, invoices, stock, customer balances Every company that sells; often part of an ERP or Algerian management software
CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho CRM, Odoo CRM) Customer and contact records, opportunities, follow-ups, forecasts Office-based B2B sales, export, long sales cycles
Field sales app (route-to-market) Routes, visits, offline orders, merchandising, location Distributors, FMCG, pharma, building materials

Most companies need two of these, connected: for example a field app for reps and the ERP's sales management for invoicing.

Questions to ask

Where do your reps spend their day? If they are on the road, the mobile app is the core of the project. It must work offline, record visits and orders, and sync later. Test it for two weeks with three reps in a real sector.

Who are your customers? In Algeria one company often sells to direct customers, wholesalers, retailers, prescribers (doctors, architects, engineering firms) and export prospects. The tool must handle several contact types and the links between them.

What does the sales director see each morning? The value of a sales tool is the picture it gives: outlet coverage, visits done versus planned, pipeline by stage, orders by zone. Ask to see these dashboards on your own data.

How do you pay? International CRMs charge per user per month in foreign currency, usually by international card. Compare total cost over three years for your real number of users.

Where is your data? Customer contacts are personal data. Law 18-07, amended by law 25-11 of July 2025, requires declaration to the ANPDP and prior authorisation for transfers abroad. Settle hosting before importing your customers.

How to decide

  • Under 15 office-based reps, mostly inbound or export: an international CRM starts fast.
  • Already on Odoo or SAP, few field visits: use the ERP's sales module first.
  • Many outlets, pre-sellers or merchandisers, weak connectivity: choose a field tool and connect it to your ERP for prices, stock and invoicing.
  • Very specific process and long horizon: a custom system, provided you require documentation and code ownership.

Mistakes that sink sales projects

  • Making reps type twice. If they still report by WhatsApp, the tool stays empty. Remove the old channel on launch day.
  • Measuring logins, not outcomes. Track coverage, visit plan respected and orders per visit.
  • Launching everywhere on day one. Start with one region and a motivated manager.
  • Forgetting the ERP link. Without current prices, stock and balances, reps call the office and lose trust in the tool.

What we do at INVENTCORP

We build sales systems for B2B companies and distributors that sell in the field: every rep knows who to see and what to offer, management sees coverage and pipeline by zone, and orders flow to your ERP or invoicing software. The app works offline, in French, Arabic and English. If your sales are mostly office-based, a standard CRM may serve you better, and we will tell you so.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between sales management software and a CRM?

Sales management software handles sales documents: quotes, orders, deliveries, invoices and stock. A CRM handles the customer relationship: contacts, opportunities, follow-ups and forecasts. They complement each other and should be connected.

Which CRM is used in Algeria?

There is no public market share data. Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho are used by subsidiaries and export-oriented firms, Odoo CRM by SMEs already on Odoo, and distributors increasingly use field apps built for route sales.

Does a CRM need to work offline?

For field teams, yes. Coverage is uneven outside large cities and inside many shops and depots. An app that does not work offline pushes reps back to paper.

Can I use Salesforce or HubSpot in Algeria?

Yes, but subscriptions are paid in foreign currency and data is hosted outside Algeria. Under the amended law 18-07, transferring customers' personal data abroad requires prior authorisation from the ANPDP.

How much does sales software cost in Algeria?

International CRMs charge per user per month in foreign currency. Local or custom solutions are billed in dinars, often with a set-up fee then a subscription or maintenance. Compare total cost over three years.
